Home / About Vitamins
This section of the site deals with the basic facts about vitamins and dispels a few fallacies. Some very useful information is provided on many pages that you may access from the navigation menu on the left of your screen.
A plain English dictionary defines vitamin as:
Any of a group of organic substances present in food, essential in small amounts for life, absence of which results in a particular deficiency disease.
That is certainly true, but it is far from the whole truth. This definition considers only the direct and dramatic deficiency diseases, such as scurvy due to vitamin C deficiency.
However, there is a long period during which a person may consume less than optimal vitamins before such a disease may be diagnosed. This period may be associated with a wide range of resulting signs and symptoms that regrettably few medical practitioners correctly relate to nutritional deficiencies.
It is important therefore, to take responsibility for your own health and wellbeing. One important step is to learn what you can and we can certainly help you with that important task.
All of the basic information about vitamins that people would find handy to know, or perhaps should know, is provided.
